10. 100 Grand
Produced by Nestle, 100 Grand Bars contain a delicious mix of chocolate, caramel and crisped rice. Packaged in a distinctive red sleeve, with the words 100 Grand emblazoned in white bold, this product is perhaps best known for the controversy it caused in America when in May 2005, a Kentucky woman successfully sued a radio station for a prank they ran in which a Radio DJ gave away one of the candy bars, whilst misleading listeners, so the woman claimed, into believe the prize was actually $100,000 in cash.
9. Hershey Bliss
One of the newest products in the Hershey portfolio of chocolate bars Hershey Bliss, according to their official website offers a distinct richer, longer lasting chocolate experience. Wrapped in purple foil is a delightful square inch of specially crafted milk chocolate with a rich taste you will surely savour. As the name suggests it is a step up from the original Hershey Milk Chocolate Bar and is something I am sure The Hershey Corporation have high hopes for.
8. Almond Joy
Another Hershey product, Almond Joy consists of a deliciously moist coconut base, topped with two almonds, that is enrobed in a layer of milk chocolate. The sister product of Mounds, which is essentially the same type of candy bar minus the almond and coated in dark chocolate not milk, both products also feature similar packaging and logo design, but for the colour scheme. Mounds being red and Almond Joy's being blue.
7. 5th Avenue
A product that has been around since the mid-1930s, 5th Avenue consists of a crunchy, mouth-watering slab of peanut butter coated in Hershey Milk Chocolate. 6. Butterfinger Crisp
Fans of The Simpsons may well remember Butterfinger but this variation of the classic original is something they might not be aware of. Consisting of light and crispy wafers, with Butterfinger candy cream and crunchy candy bits all covered with thick milk chocolate Butterfinger Crisp is fast becoming extremely popular in its own right.
5. 3 Musketeers Truffle Crisp
Another product that offers an interesting variation on the much loved original, 3 Musketeers Truffle Crisp consists of a whipped chocolate truffle filling that sits on top of an airy crispy layer and is smothered by milk chocolate. Thinner than a 3 Musketeers Bar and providing a different taste and texture sensation, it might take a little getting used to. But once experience its light and airy crunch you do you will be hooked!
4. Milk Way Midnight
One of the cleverest product developments I have seen in a candy bar in many a while Milk Way Midnight is the polar opposite of a Milky Way in that it consists of a delicious combination of dark chocolate, golden caramel and vanilla nougat. Yet somehow it still manages to replicate the same consistency of a Milky Way as well as that unmistakeably silky blend of smooth chocolate, oozing caramel and chewy nougat which lends itself to such a fantastic taste experience. I am not sure how they have done it but I am sure glad they have!
3. M&Ms Coconut
One of the most popular candies in the world M&Ms come in a wide range of different flavours. Of the many variations available M&Ms Coconut and M&Ms Peanut Butter are very popular offshoots. In Australia Peanut M&Ms are already causing quite a storm of demand. It is only a matter of time before Coconut M&Ms follow suit.
2. Snickers Peanut Butter SquaredAs the most popular chocolate bar in the world you could forgive the makers of Snickers for resting on their laurels. But Mars Incorporated are an enterprising bunch. Not content with the success of the original they have raised the (candy) bar forward with the launch of Snickers Peanut Butter Squared. A delicious mix of peanut butter, peanuts, caramel, nougat & milk chocolate it is a hefty snack and an intriguing modification that takes the brand to another level.
1. Ghirardelli
One of the few chocolate companies in the world who oversee and control every single aspect of its chocolate manufacturing process, Ghirardelli is considered by many connoisseurs to produce the best tasting of all American Chocolate bars. Presenting the consumer with an 'intense, smooth melting chocolate' experience the secret of their success is that Ghirardelli's production process ensures that their chocolate bar does not contain the grainy feel of other candy bars currently on the market.
