The Jeweler has all you need to craft powerful Gems and socket them to your gear to enhance your character's stats, whether it is more Damage, Resistance, Life, or Damage Reduction. The best part is you can change your mind anytime! The Jeweler can un-socket your Gems out of your gear without ruining them, later. Similar to upgrading Armor and Weapons in the Blacksmith, you may also upgrade your Rings and Amulet to improve their bonus Resistances in addition to their extra Stats here.

Unlocking the Jeweler

When your character reaches level 20, you have a Priority Quest objective to visit and see the Jeweler in Kyovashad. Here you're given the task of upgrading a ?Crude Ruby right into a Chipped Ruby. You're given 3 ?Crude Ruby and want a small amount of Gold to craft the first Gem.

But now where would you put this Gem? As you adventure, you will find items that currently have Sockets inside them. Sockets can roll like a bonus stat and permit you to put Gems inside to profit from the stats on the Gem. Your Helm, Chest, Pants, Rings, Amulet, and Weapons can all have 1-2 Sockets inside them respectively. Killing a World Boss or Treasure Goblin may reward you with having a Scattered Prism you can use to add Sockets for your gear.

I recommend putting that Chipped Ruby in the quest to your Armor for much extra Life.

Gems

You will find and craft a variety of Gem types, that every has their stats they offer depending on the Gear slot they're socketed into. Generally speaking, each Gem grants damage for your weapon, defensive stats for your armor, and Resistance for your jewelry.

Craft Gems

As you discover Gems inside your adventures, you can take them toward the Jeweler to craft stronger versions. This requires 3 from the lower tier along with a small Gold cost to produce 1 Gem from the next tier. (Crude to Chipped required 4,500 Gold) Upgrading your Gems will raise the stats they grant concerning the gear slot you socket them into.

Unsocket

You might want to upgrade the Gems you currently have inside your gear, or swap to various ones to achieve a stat you do not currently have. Luckily, the Jeweler allows you to unsocket Gems out of your Gear for any small Gold cost. This removes the Gem later and reopens the slot to permit a new Gem to become Socketed in it. The Gold cost increases because the Item Power of the gear increases.

Add Sockets

If you discover an awesome bit of gear that didn't generate with Sockets inside it, you are in luck. For the price of a Scattered Prism, the Jeweler can also add Sockets for your gear. Scattered Prisms have a chance to decrease from World Boss Events, Loot Goblins, etc. and also you only need 1 to include a Socket to a bit of gear. Not every gear slot might have Sockets put into them. The list below shows which slots can, and just how many Sockets they might have.

Upgrade Jewelry

Upgrading your Jewelry boosts the Resistances they grant as well because of the random stats they rolled. While you can upgrade common and magic gear, it's not recommended. You'd be better served to wait til you have rare and legendary/unique Jewelry before spending your materials. Rare items could be upgraded three times, while legendary items could be upgraded four times. The cost of Gold and materials increases with each upgrade, and also you need special materials to upgrade legendary items.
