117 reported that they offered Jagex a compromise in the form of removing their project in the event that Jagex had released theirs, and also giving Jagex "collaborative control" over OSRS gold visual design.
"They declined outright," 117 said. "I am completely annoyed and disgruntled with Jagex and am deeply sorry I am so disappointed that, after this lengthy journey, I'm not able to present this project to you. The mod 117 has been working on doesn't appear to go against Jagex's guidelines that apply to third-party clients. However, the Runescape developer says it is reviewing the guidelines next week to include references projects that could affect the design to the player.
Original Runelite creator Adam1210 shared his views on Reddit by saying that the ability to allow Runelite HD to continue would be a huge benefit to future updates developed by Jagex.
"I also disagree strongly with adding it to the "third group guidelines,"" Adam1210 said. "Most of them are trying to determine where the line between quality of life] and cheating lies and I believe that the majority of people agree the current guidelines are a fair illustration of that. it keeps the game's integrity.
But there isn't an benefit in the least for having better graphics. And it only affects you when you turn it on. This is an infringement of guidelines. In the end, it's a loss for everyone involved and I'd like to see Jagex would reconsider."
Some fans of those who support the Runelite HD project have taken to a square in Falador in the capital city for one of Runescape's most important kingdoms, to stage an unofficial sit-in like the protest World of Warcraft players held in July. The players can be seen in the video below, posting text dialogue criticizing Jagex for their decision as well as hashtags such as #Free117. Another video shows even more people "marching" out of Falador Square.
A some time back, something unusual began to occur in a video game known as Old School RuneScape. There were a lot of new players playing the game and they were performing their tasks in exactly the same manner. They were playing for hours doing the same thing over and over again. OSRS GP green dragons, gathering gold. Then killing even more green dragons, and harvesting gold.
