The Dallas Stars took the ice for the first day of training camp on Fridayahead of the 2019-20 season; however, one new Star was noticeably not present on the ice.
Corey Perry, and then signed as a free agent by the Stars, suffered a small fracture in his foot just prior to camp, he told reporters.
"It's frustrating, obviously, two days before camp Trevor Story Jersey and getting excited to be around the guys and get on the ice with thembut it's a setback, but I'll be ready," Perry said. He told reporters that he simply tripped on a step and rolled his foot, causing the injury on Wednesday.

The 14-year veteran Scott Oberg Jersey spent his entire career prior to this point with the Ducks. Making his first transition to a new NHL club, Perry referencedthe adjustment ofmoving his family to Dallas.
"It's been a little bit of a whirlwind. First week was just trying to figure out how to get to the rink and your way around the city but we've settled in as a family. Kind of get the lay of the land," Perry said."Training staff has been great. The guys have been great, hanging out with everybody and getting to know everybody. It's a new chapter of our life but we're excited."
Perry, 34,. He hadsurgery to repair MCL and meniscus injuries and was out from late September through January. Although featuring ina shortened season, Perry was able to Blank Jersey return for 31 games, netting six goals and logging four a sists.
"I Sam Hilliard Jersey was looking forward to camp," he noted. "I mi sed it last year and unfortunately mi sing a little bit of time this year," he said. "I'll do everything I can to be ready."
Perry was brought into a club with a lotof talent andsome exceptionalyoung players, but it's a team that has fallen in the postseason to the St. Louis Blues in the second round ofeachof itslast two playoff appearances (2016 and 2019). Experience was setat a premium this offseason when the Stars acquired bothPerry and former San Jose Sharks captain, Joe Pavelski.
The Stars also struggled to put up points last season, spared only by the strength of their netminding and defensive play. The Stars allowed the second-fewest goals against last season (202), only trailingthe New York Islanders (196) in the race for the William Pat Valaika Jersey M. Jennings Trophy.
Having signed a one-year deal, the Stars' hope for Perry is he can rekindle the fire that led him to six 30-plus goalseasons, Wade Davis Jersey most recently in 2015-16 when he scored 34.
"It's a new chapter; it's something different. I'm embracing it as 'change is sometimes a good thing' and rejuvenates myself and my career and get off and get going," he said.
Perry does planto be back on the ice prior to the season opener against the Boston Bruins on Oct. 3. General manager Jim Nill told the media that Perry will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
