Do you know about antibody test results? If not, then this article will help guide you about it in this article.

As the whole world is facing the pandemic of coronavirus, the health organization centers including WHO (world health organization), have emphasized the importance of coronavirus antibody testing. Antibody test results show us whether a person is safe from coronavirus or not.

What are antibodies?

Before discussing antibody test results, let’s first educate ourselves about antibodies. Antibodies are proteins created by our body’s immune system whenever a virus attacks it. When a person gets infected with coronavirus, his body creates antibodies; these antibodies help him not to catch it for a short time. It is for about three months. The duration varies as everyone’s body works in a unique system.

Types of antibodies

There are many types of antibodies. But, for your understanding, we will cut them down into two types. The two types of antibodies are as follows:

1. The first one is IgM

IgM antibodies are the antibodies that are formed at the start of the infection.

2. The second one isIgG antibodies

IgG antibodies are formed when a person gets recovers from a virus.

Antibody test results

Antibody testing is simple and takes less than one minute. A physician will take your blood sample as he does in regular blood testing and send it to the lab for testing. Keep in mind that antibody testing is done to identify a past infection, not a current one.

Two types of Antibody outcomes

1. Positive results

Positive results mean that a person had a past infection, which is why he has developed coronavirus antibodies. A person having antibodies can resist the virus and fight it from attacking the body again for some months; usually, the span is of 3 months. This doesn’t mean that you are free to follow any instructions imposed by the Government. These rules are set by the Government for your safety, so follow them. Keep social distance, sanitize your hands, wear a mask and resist going to public places without real concern.

2. Negative results

A negative result shows that a person has not been infected with the virus yet. That’s why he doesn’t show signs of coronavirus antibodies.

Conclusion

Antibodies are created by our body when it confronts a virus. Antibodies are of two types. One of the types forms after the person gets recovered from the coronavirus. Antibody test results come out either positive or negative. The positive results show the sign of a past infection. The testing procedure is simple and doesn’t hurt.
