"We have actually thought about making some kind of idle OSRS Gold game several years ago with RuneScape: Idle Adventures," Pfeiffer explains. "In Alpha, we stopped development to concentrate upon the main RuneScape games.

We have always believed RuneScape's possibilities in idle space and Melvor Idle is a great proof that RuneScape can create a fantastic idle game. But Melvor Idle stands up on its own merits as well, so we wanted remain loyal to the ideals for it that Brendan did when he first started designing this game."

Pfeiffer also points to the popularity of Melvor Idle as proof that potential talent can come from the community of any game, something Jagex has already realized. "We've always been able to find it to be the RuneScape communities to be an excellent opportunity for talent at Jagex and not just in terms of game developers but every other role in a games studio," Pfeiffer claims. "RuneScape has more than 300 million accounts created in more than 20 years, so the number of skilled players that have played the game is massive."

After the success of their partnership together with Games By Malcs, Pfeiffer says he's keen to do more work with indie developers around the world if they're working on projects that "align with the RuneScape design philosophy and Jagex's core values" He hopes Melvor Idle's success will encourage more indie developers to reach out to Jagex Studios.

With version 1.0 of Melvor Idle available, Games By Malcs and Jagex collaborate on the development of future content, as well as more potential titles set in the Melvor universe. Malcolm remains grateful to Jagex for its continuous support, especially in the area of reaching new players.
