Why does everyone love Chicago Cubs? Read the reason and learn more about them
Longevity - The Chicago National League Baseball Club was found in 1876 with the creation of the league. That gave them 25 years to develop a fan base.
Quality - As much as people joked about the fact the Cubs hadn’t won a World Series in 108 years, the Cubs actually won 16 National League pennants from 1876 to 1945.
Scandal - It was drastic measures from the owners and the breakout offensive season of some guy named Ruth basically saved baseball.
Atmosphere - Wrigley field has been the home of the Cubs for over 100 years. Going to Wrigley is an experience, not just a game. Why do you think a lot of the newer ballparks have tried the recreate the atmosphere experienced in Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, and Yankee Stadium. Finally, television. In the late 1970s and the dawn of cable television, WGN went national with its station and the entire country got to watch Cubs baseball in the afternoons. Until 1988, night baseball was not played at Wrigley, so WGN had a monopoly on showing baseball in the afternoon.
Where the other teams might have a few afternoon games all 81 home games of the Cubs were played in the afternoon, right when children were coming home from school or coming inside from a morning of playing. This also helped older generations introduce their beloved Cubs to their families since games were played before younger children had to go to bed.
