The Reliquary replaces the linear battle pass track with multiple themed Reliquaries, each containing cosmetic rewards. Players earn Favor Tokens through gameplay to Diablo IV Gold unlock these rewards, but each item can also be purchased directly with Platinum, the premium currency. The UI heavily emphasizes the paid option.

Reddit user Loika revealed a critical issue: the Platinum purchase button is prominently displayed with no confirmation prompt. For example, an armor set costs 15 tokens or 750 Platinum (~$7.50). This makes it easy to accidentally spend premium currency.

Console players face more challenges. The controller button to claim rewards switches mid-transaction from token redemption to Platinum purchase, increasing accidental spending risk. GameSpot verified this confusing control scheme.

Pricing adds frustration. Individual Reliquaries cost 500 Platinum each, or 1,500 Platinum for all three. A “Battle Pass Bundle” offers all three for 1,000 Platinum, but buying any Reliquary individually blocks access to this discount, forcing full-price purchases.

The Deluxe Bundle, priced at 2,800 Platinum (~$28), includes the same armor set plus a pet and wings, which many players feel aren’t worth the extra cost.

Blizzard acknowledged feedback during a Campfire Chat livestream, promising to review but delaying changes until after Season 9. Adam Fletcher, director of social and content marketing, said the Reliquary aims to serve all players and promised better value in future collaborations, following backlash against the Berserk crossover.

Blizzard’s 2025 roadmap offers hope with spellcrafting in Season 9 and another crossover planned. The next major expansion arrives in 2026, so the Reliquary system will persist for Diablo 4 Items some time.
