A cursory Google search for either of these terms yields hundreds of websites, several of which include one of the terms in their URL, which offer currencies in RuneScape in exchange for real money. This was in response to the news of the 13th of October that Jagex is putting an end in "real-world trading". In a post to its blog "The RuneScape Team" explained that "gold bought through RWT real world trading is a major issue in any online game with OSRS gold currency."
Jagex announces that it will have to send "messages to players we've identified that are engaged with RWT" within "the next few hours". "For anyone involved, we'd like to be clear : this is your sole and only warning," they added.
The announcement also included the news about the game's PvP game mode Duel Arena, would have sweeping changes that would include the tighter enforcement of the game's rules of conduct to encourage positive game play. Jagex affirms that the mode "has been a source of anger for the shady behavior".
However, prior to that what the publisher refers to as "short-term measures" are in place "until our development teams can complete a major overhaul that completely replaces Duel Arena in the coming year."
Is RuneScape worth playing in 2022?
