Pokémon Legends: Arceus has powerful monsters called Alphas in every explorable realm, but some are more useful than others. In previous Pokémon games, players had to breed the perfect EV or IV and buy items to increase the monster's base stats, but Alphas spawn with higher stats. There are dozens of Alpha Pokémon throughout the region, but some are more valuable than others.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus has two types of Alpha Pokémon in its world: static spawns and random spawns. Each Alpha Pokémon is restricted to spawning in environments unique to its species, the only difference being their appearance is their height. Players can also spot these creatures by determining if they have red eyes. Alpha Pokémon can deal massive damage to trainers and their party, and capturing or fighting them is far more dangerous than a normal encounter. The Alpha Pokémon in Legends Arceus is static, and mini-bosses are randomly generated in five explorable areas of the game. Some players prefer to take advantage of Pokémon Legends: Arceus' new capture mechanics rather than fighting them the traditional way. Those brave enough can catch some of the best Pokémon in the game.
What are some really good Alpha Pokémons?
#6 Alpha Torterra
Alpha Torterra as one of Sinnoh's original starters, but not a starter in Pokémon Legends Arceus is Turtwig, its eventual evolution Torterra maintained a strong presence in the prequels. Once players unlock Basulegion and can travel across deep rivers and oceans, players can explore the rest of the Crimson Mirelands and encounter Torterra in Holm of the Trials. It accompanies other alphas like Toxicroak and Sliggoo but becomes very useful against enemies in late-game areas. Torterra is especially useful in the Cobalt Coastlands, where its grass and ground attacks keep its trainers away from the wild monsters in the area. Its usefulness extends to the Coronet Highlands, but unfortunately, it suffers a serious weakness at the Alabaster Icelands. Still, the Alpha Torterra is an excellent grass two-type addition to either side.
#5 Alpha Gyarados
Gyarados is an excellent Water-type in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, offering Water- and Flying-type attacks to his team. However, Gyrados is also able to learn Dragon-type moves that make the creature extremely powerful. One of the most popular Pokémon in the Kanto region, Gyarados provides players with power and speed. Unlike previously encountered Water-type Pokémon, Gyarados can only be accessed after players have acquired Basulegion and explored Sands Reach in the Cobalt Coastlands and Lake Verity in the Obsidian Fieldlands. Unlike the other Alphas on this list, players have to use their methods smartly to gain an advantage in this battle. Fighting this Alpha is unavoidable, as the area has a little cover to cover its approach. Gyarados are a great addition to any party, providing coverage for ground, grass, combat, bug types, and more.
#4 Alpha Drapion
While the Drapion's design and powers aren't as flashy as the other Alpha Pokémons in Legends: Arceus, the creature is helpful to most teams. Unfortunately, Drapion doesn't get the attention it deserves in the Pokémon franchise, and its alpha form will likely go unnoticed by most. It's Poison-Dark dual-type provides a very powerful addition to players early on.
Drapion's only weaknesses are ground-type Pokémon and attacks, it's fully immune to spirit types while having some useful resistance to other powerful attacks. This Alpha appears in the Ginko Landing Area in the Cobalt Coastlands and is a monster worth catching for trainers who don't have a Dark or Poison-type in their party.
#3 Alpha Lucario
In the 2020 Pokémon Popularity Poll, Lucario came in second in the ratings and has consistently maintained its place in the series and anime. This monster is very effective in Pokémon Legends: Arceus teams, especially when players catch it with high EV. Its Fighting-Steel dual typing makes this monster very effective against Normal-, Ice-, Rock-, and Steel-types (players already have Alpha properly equipped). Additionally, Alpha Lucario can generate a variety of unique moves that are not usually present in other Lucario and Riolu specimens around the world. Alpha Lucario spawns in the Alabaster Icelands next to the J-shaped mountains at Icebound Falls.
#2 Alpha Zoroark
Many Hisuian variants appear in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but Zorua and Zoroark appear in a unique trailer to introduce both regional forms. Zoroark has the first Normal-Ghost dual type in the Pokémon series and resists attacks from all opponents' Poison-, Bug-, Normal-, and Fighting-types. Unfortunately, it's weak against Dark-type Pokémon, but Hisuian Zoroark is a revolutionary addition to the Pokédex. Unlike most of the Alphas on this list, however, Alpha Zoroark is harder to track down and requires a lot of searching in Alabaster Icelands in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The Lake Acuity area is most likely to spawn Alpha Zoroark, but players have also reported that it spawns in an ice trench near the ice arena. It can also be obtained through post-credit scenarios.
#1 Alpha Garchomp Is Best
Cynthia's Garchomp is legendary in Pokémon games, so it's no surprise that Alpha Garchomp gives players a clear advantage in most battles. Unfortunately, this powerful creature cannot be captured until players enter the game's final territory. As the Alpha Pokémon of Alabaster Icelands, navigating areas with little cover can be very difficult. Thankfully, by catching this Pokémon, players can give themselves a distinct advantage in future battles. Its dragon attack combined with impressive speed stats makes this Alpha a great addition to any side. Alpha Garchomp spawns in Avalanche Slopes and is high enough that players can immediately integrate it into their party without having to train it. PKMBuy has PLA Alpha Pokémon for Sale.
