Discover the power of card A2-092, featuring Fighting Coach, boosting your Pokémon's damage potential significantly in battles!

Analysis of Card A2-092

Greetings, everyone!
My name is Clyde, and I'm excited to share my thoughts on a standout card from the latest Space-Time Smackdown expansion: A2-092.
This card features an impressive ability known as Fighting Coach.
With this ability, your Fighting-type Pokémon can deal an additional 20 damage to the opponent's active Pokémon.
Keep in mind, however, that this bonus applies solely to active Pokémon, meaning it won't be effective alongside A1-154.

The ability to meet specific HP thresholds plays a crucial role in maximizing damage potential.
On the downside, a2-092 has a retreat cost of 2. If you begin with a2-091 and plan to evolve into a2-092, it's advisable to have a cost reducer to allocate an additional energy to your main attackers.

Another challenge with a2-092 in the current meta is the tendency to keep attackers benched while they are shielded by tanks like a1a-056. This strategy makes it difficult to fully utilize a2-092's capabilities without incurring significant damage in return.

In this analysis, I will delve into the basic Pokémon ratios featured in my decks, particularly focusing on three key ones. The first choice is a1-155, which is an excellent fit for a2-092 due to its status as a basic fighting Pokémon. It benefits from a +20 damage boost, allowing it to inflict 50 damage, which is enough to take down a1a-056 in two hits or a 150 HP Pokémon in three hits. It's common practice to include at least one a1-155 in any deck featuring a2-092. Moreover, it's an ideal starting Pokémon, as it helps safeguard a2-091, preventing the need to start with a1a-047 if included.Incorporating a1-154 into a deck centered around a2-092 poses some challenges, primarily due to the interaction with a2-092's ability. Currently, a1-154 serves the purpose of inflicting damage on the bench, followed by utilizing a2-150 to finish off the weakened Pokémon. However, given that the target is already damaged, a2-092's ability may prove excessive or unnecessary in many situations.

Despite this, including a1-154 remains a viable strategy, particularly in a stall-heavy environment. Nonetheless, one must question the necessity of a2-092 in the current setup. The effectiveness of the a1-154 and a2-150 combination raises doubts about the relevance of a2-092 at this time.

On the other hand, a1a-047 faces difficulties being integrated into an a2-092 deck due to the restrictions on basic Pokémon. With the presence of a2-091, players typically prefer not to lead with it, as maintaining a2-092's ability is crucial. This presents a unique challenge since many basic Pokémon may not be ideal starting options. Furthermore, it's challenging to validate the inclusion of a1a-047 when a2-092 already addresses the damage concerns that a1a-047 was initially intended to resolve. In our deck analysis, we highlight a strategy centered around a1a-046, complemented by a2-092.

The synergy between a2-092 and a1a-046 allows for a significant damage output of 100, enabling you to eliminate a1a-056 in a single hit. We also incorporate a1-155 to serve as an initial buffer, softening enemy defenses while we look to bring a1a-047 or a1a-046 into play. There will be instances where building energy for a1a-046 is essential, especially if promo-002 is already in play.

To address the deck's limited damage capacity, a1a-047 is included, allowing for a two-hit strategy against larger foes. While some might opt for a1a-068, I find promo-002 to be more beneficial as it allows for a swift transition into a1a-046, while also enabling retreat when paired with other support cards like promo-007. To bolster the defense of a1a-046, we have a2-147, which is crucial given its 140 HP can be easily targeted by stronger opponents.

One of the deck's strengths is a1a-046's ability to impede the evolution of your opponent's Pokémon, particularly after knocking out their tank, such as a1a-056. The incorporation of a2-150 and a1-225 further amplifies this strategy. Despite the assistance of a2-092, the deck may still struggle with damage output. However, a1a-046’s ability often ensures that the opponent's active Pokémon remain relatively weak. It's worth noting that since a1a-046 is an ex card, losing it can be costly; therefore, preserving it for later stages of the game can be a strategic advantage.

Next, we explore a hybrid deck featuring a2-089 and a2-092.

This combination could potentially be the strongest of the three, as a2-089 is capable of dealing substantial damage, especially when enhanced by a2-092's ability. We omit a1a-047 in this configuration since a2-089 can handle most threats effectively, opting instead for two copies of a1-155. Introducing a single a1-154 in place of one a1-155 can add versatility to our approach. We've included two a2-146 cards to accelerate the setup of a2-089, a stage 2 Pokémon, ensuring we maintain a consistent offensive presence.

A critical aspect of this deck is the risk of a2-089 sustaining self-inflicted damage after taking down a1a-056, which could leave it vulnerable at 80 HP. This vulnerability suggests that substituting a2-092 for a1a-047 and focusing on a playstyle that includes a1-154 and a2-150, while allowing a2-089 to clean up the remaining threats, is a prudent strategy.

Finally, we consider a deck featuring a2-095 alongside a2-092.

A2-095 possesses the capability of delivering high damage output, and when paired with a2-092, it can effectively dispatch most Pokémon. Additionally, a2-095 offers 170 HP, serving as a reliable tank to absorb damage and protect your other Pokémon.

Strategy Overview for Deck

We are currently utilizing the a2-068 to facilitate its evolution into a2-095 for future strategies. Additionally, we have the a2-069 in play, allowing us to launch an attack using just one colorless energy if necessary. It's important to remember that both of these cards remain psychic types, which means they won't benefit from a2-092.

Furthermore, we've incorporated the a1-154 and a2-150 combination into our strategy, which is the reason for having only a single a1-154 in the mix. This decision aims to enhance the consistency of a2-146. The role of a1-154 is crucial as it helps us navigate around a1a-056, particularly since a2-095 doesn't sync well with it. Instead, we can directly progress to the backline thanks to a2-150's support.

We also have 2 copies of promo-002 included, as players often want to bring a2-095 into the active position as quickly as possible. However, it's worth noting that 5 Pokémon in this lineup do not gain any advantages from a2-092, which feels somewhat inefficient. Therefore, I think the optimal version of this deck may ultimately exclude a2-092, resulting in even greater consistency. It’s a bit disappointing since a2-092 has its charm.
